A Job Interview

Just went for a job interview at one of the well known German motor company. It was my second interview in my life. My first interview was in 2007 at the Department of Communication at University of Johannesburg. When I got out of the boardroom (where the interview was taking place), I felt it in my blood that I got the job.

In both interviews that I attended, I was asked more or less related questions. The following are the questions that I came across in my first and second job interview:

1. Tell us about yourself?
Answer: I told them that I am a positive person, I well come constructive criticism, I can perform to the maximum level irrespective of circumstances around me. I listen to details and ask when I do not understand.

2. Mention at least five attributes that your friends and family talk about you.
Answer: Honest; focused; determined; sociable; and helpful.

3. Why do want to join our company?
Answer: Honestly, I had no other reason than getting a job that will pay me.

4. What have you achieved so far?
Answer: I spoke about my participation in the Future Journalists Programme. I was selected from a second year Journalism class. It's an achievement.

5. Have you ever been under pressure? How did you handle it?
Answer: Yes, I have been under pressure. Here I spoke of a challenge I came across when someone who had promised to take me to university passed away. I had to explain how I finally found myself at the university without stable finance.

6. What project have you ever done? And tell me the steps you took.
Answer: Truly speaking, I have never done a project. I had to make up a story that I don't know it scored me points.

7. Where do you see yourself in the next five years? Professionally and personally.
Answer: Professionally, I want to obtain a Masters degree in Communication Science and I want to be a reputable person who have impact on the society. Personally, I want to own a house, car and other properties of my choice. I did not talk about family.

One more important thing is the way you present yourself. Your attire, confidence and use of words.
